SARGE is a privately owned South African renewable green energy company based in Cape Town that develops, constructs and operates wind and solar (PV) projects. The company was founded in 2008 by Pieter Francois Roux, one of South Africa’s pioneers in wind and PV energy. It has subsequently developed more than 500 MW in local wind and solar projects.
SARGE has specialist know-how in conducting feasibility studies and identifying ideal sites for wind farms, as well as managing the issue of necessary permits, licenses and authorisations for the commissioning and construction of wind farms.

SARGE projects all have to meet the principles established on a risk management framework called Equator Principles (EP). The Equator Principles have greatly increased attention and focus on social/community standards and responsibility, including robust standards for indigenous peoples, labour standards and consultation with locally affected communities. They have also promoted convergence around common environmental and social standards, subject to the findings of an environmental impact assessment.
